INTRO
1. Van selection is not seen in this segment, as this is a practice layout; we recommend selecting a simple-shaped model with good height. Any of the H3 templates will do.
Once you have downloaded your software and logged in, select CREATE NEW VAN and enter H3 into the search bar. Click on your selection to open in the design area.
CAMERA CONTROLS
1. Right-click and hold with Mouse to rotate the camera
2. Rotate the camera using the CAMERA CONTROL PAD
3. Rotate the camera on a trackpad using your keyboard CTRL button + left-click simultaneously
4. Click your middle mouse button to move the camera around the screen
5. Move the camera around the screen using the CAMERA CONTROL PAD
6. Use the keyboard keys W A S D to move the Camera
7. Move the Camera on a trackpad using your keyboard ALT for Windows or OPTION for Mac, and left-click simultaneously
8. Zoom in and out with a mouse using the Scroll Wheel
9. Zoom in and out using the CAMERA CONTROL PAD
10. Use the keyboard keys W S to zoom in and out
11. Open the FURNITURE LIBRARY by revealing the SIDEBAR with the two verticle arrows
12. Select any object and place it in the layout
13. Select the FOCUS Button by the CAMERA CONTROL PAD
14. You can now focus on one particular object using the above camera movements.
15. Deselect the object focus feature by clicking the FOCUS button on the CAMERA CONTROL PAD
16. Delete an object using the delete key on your keyboard; you also have a delete button near the OBJECT CONTROL PAD
17. Reset the Camera position using the HOME Button within the CAMERA CONTROL PAD
SETTINGS
1. Select SETTINGS in the software TOP BAR
2. Use the toggle to choose between Metric and Imperial measurements
3. Click APPLY
4. Click the cross to close
5. Select VAN SETTINGS in the software TOP BAR
6. Toggle the steering wheel side
7. Toggle bulkhead on and off
8. Click on VAN SETTINGS again in the TOP BAR if you want to hide the panel
PLACING FURNITURE
1. Reveal the SIDEBAR by clicking on the two verticle arrows
2. Reveal the FURNITURE LIBRARY by selecting FURNITURE in the sidebar; you can also deselect this tab if wanting to reveal other categories
3. Enter the object that you are looking for in the search bar; in this case, it is a bed. You can also scroll through the different folders shown or through the full list in All Items.
4. Select the Bed and move to the design area
5. Before clicking into the layout to drop the object, you can use your space bar to rotate it
6. Drop the object into the layout by clicking it into place
7. Selecting the object reveals the GIZMO and its colour-coded functions. You have three Gizmo controls in the TOPBAR, rotate, scale and move. It will also reveal the OBJECT CONTROL PAD
8. Use your keyboard space bar to rotate the object by 90 degrees
9. Use the OBJECT CONTROL PAD to rotate the object.
10. You can adjust the degree of rotation by selecting a figure on the OBJECT CONTROL PAD
11. Use the ROTATE GIZMO in the TOP BAR to rotate the object freely
12. Use the UNDO button in the TOP BAR or CTRL +Z on your keyboard to undo an action
13. Select the MOVE GIZMO in the TOP BAR
14. Use the GRAB HAND situated in the middle of the GIZMO to move the object
15. Whilst still holding, raise the GRAB HAND in the centre of the MOVE GIZMO to snap to a wall or other object, in this case, the template side wall
16. Use the GRAB HAND again and raise towards the rear wall to snap into position
17. Use the CAMERA VIEW PAD for the top, right, back and left views of your template
18. Select the central 2D button of the CAMERA VIEW PAD for a work plan view of your design, allowing for accurate placement
RESIZING FURNITURE
1. Select the SCALE GIZMO to adjust the object dimensions, and drag the appropriate arrow of the Gizmo to resize
2. View the dimensions of the object within the RESIZE & ROTATE box in the SIDEBAR
3. To manually input dimensions, select the MOVE GIZMO from the TOP BAR
4. Enter the dimension required into RESIZE & ROTATE. Use decimal points as any number separator needed and press enter to apply the new dimension to the object
5. Revert back to 3D mode within the CAMERA VIEW PAD
6. To select a particular element of an object, select once to highlight the entire object and then once again on the required element. You can also group required elements by holding down SHIFT on your keyboard while selecting. Move the element/s with the MOVE GIZMO or OBJECT CONTROL PANEL
7. TOP TIP When using the SCALE GIZMO, clicking and dragging the central point of the Gizmo allows all axis to be scaled at one time
PAINTING WALLS AND FLOORING
1. Select the MATERIALS & COLOURS tab in the SIDEBAR
2. Select the folder titled Wood
3. Click on your choice and move your cursor towards to walls or floor of your template.
4. Click on the surface of your choice to paint; you can also rotate the template and apply to the ceiling
BUILDING A KITCHEN
1. Go to the FURNITURE tab within the SIDEBAR
2. Type cab into the search bar to reveal all of the kitchen cabinets provided; we will talk more about creating your own furniture in a later guide
3. Pick a cabinet, rotate it with the space bar if needed, and place it into the layout
4. Use the GRAB HAND in the middle of the gizmo to snap to the chosen wall
5. Select 2D mode from within the CAMERA VIEW PAD
6. Zoom in closer and notice the blue outline of the object
7. Move into position using the MOVE GIZMO
8. Select 3D mode from within the CAMERA CONTROL PAD
9. Use the FOCUS button on the CAMERA CONTROL PAD while the object is highlighted to navigate solely around the object
10. Invert the object by selecting the MIRROR SELECTED OBJECT button in the OBJECT CONTROL PANEL
11. Select the DUPLICATE button in the OBJECT CONTROL PAD
12. The duplicated object will be of the same dimensions as the original and appear in the exact same position. Use the MOVE GIZMO to reveal the new object and move into position
13. Select 2D mode again, and zoom in closer to the object to align using the MOVE GIZMO
14. Return to 3D mode
15. For touching handles, use the MIRROR SELECTED FEATURE on the duplicated object
16. Search for a sink in the FURNITURE LIBRARY and select your choice
17. Drop the sink into the layout
18. Use the GRAB HANDLE or MOVE GIZMO into position; you can also use the OBJECT CONTROL PANEL to do this
19. Rotate the sink using your space bar
20. Select 2D Mode to position the sink on top of the cabinet
21. View in 2D mode using the R button to navigate to the right
22. Use the MOVE GIZMO to sink into place.
23. Return to 3D mode
24. Select a faucet from the FURNITURE LIBRARY
25. Move into place with the space bar and MOVE GIZMO
26. Back into 2D mode to place more accurately
27. Use the FOCUS button in the CAMERA CONTROL PAD to navigate to the sink
28. Whilst the sink is selected, hold down shift on your keyboard and also select the sink
29. Position the twp grouped objects with the MOVE GIZMO
30. Deselect the focus of the grouped objects but clicking the FOCUS button again
31. Search for an upper cabinet in the Furniture Library using the search bar
32. Place into the layout and use your space bar to rotate
33. Move to 2D view again, as this is always the best view for alignment
34. Select the back view option in 2D mode on the CAMERA VIEW PAD
35. Allign the top of the upper cabinet with the ceiling, as well as the side wall of the template
36. Select the top view on the CAMERA CONTROL PAD and position the cabinet against the bulkhead too
37. Return to 3D mode within the CAMERA CONTROL PAD
38. As the cabinets are white and you may have selected white walls too, for better visibility, go to the MATERIALS & COLOURS tab within the SIDEBAR
39. Apply your paint choice to your chosen surfaces; only click to paint once the element you wish to colour is previewing your colour choice. Click UNDO in the TOP BAR if needed
40. Select the upper cabinet if wanting to duplicate another with the same position and dimensions; you can do this multiple times
41. Go back to the Furniture Library to select a different shelf-style cabinet and place it in the layout
USING THE GRID
1. Toggle on the GRID in the TOP BAR
2, Select the first cabinet placed in the layout, as this is the height that you want to replicate
3. Use the easy height slider or select SNAP GRID TO BOTTOM OF OBJECT
4. Use the GRAB HAND within the middle of the MOVE GIZMO, to snap against the side wall and the first placed cabinet.
5. Toggle off the GRID within the TOP BAR
6. Scroll through the folders within the FURNITURE LIBRARY and select seating
7. Select a bench with drawers
8. Select the object once to highlight the entire object, then click again to select only the drawer element
9. Move the drawers with the MOVE GIZMO or OBJECT CONTROL PANEL
10. Move to 2D mode in the CAMERA VIEW PAD
11. Zoom in closer to the bench and bed
12. Click once on the bed to highlight the entire object, and click again on the blanket area
13. Using the MOVE GIZMO, move the blanket to the side to reveal the edge of the bed base
MEASURE TOOL
1. Select the MEASURING TOOL from the TOPBAR
2. Switch the axis of the tool to the Length option
3. Click on the edge of the cabinet to place the beginning of the tape measure
4. Click on the edge of the bed base to place the end of the tape measure
5. Make note of the length that the MEASURING TOOL registers
6. Revert back to 3D mode in the CAMERA VIEW PAD
7. Ensure that the bench is highlighted and the MOVE GIZMO is selected
8. Reveal the RESIZE & ROTATE input boxes within the SIDEBAR
9. Enter the length reading taken from the MEASURING TOOL into the W (width) Box
10. Use decimal points as any number separators needed and press enter to apply the new dimension to the object
11. Select the All Items folder within the FURNITURE LIBRARY
12. Search for a table and place it into the layout once you have chosen
13. Use your space bar to rotate the object if needed
14. Move into position with the MOVE GIZMO
ADDING ACCESSORIES
1. Return to the All Items folder in the FURNITURE LIBRARY
2. Add a few accessories to your layout by searching for particular items or scrolling through the full list
3. Place within the layout using the skills learned within the segments above
ADDING MATERIALS
1. Reveal the MATERIALS & COLOURS tab in the SIDEBAR
2. Select your chosen material by scrolling through the entire list of materials or by viewing the different folders
3. Once on your cursor, move to your chosen object or element and only click to apply once the correct element is previewing the material
4. Select the Bed to highlight the entire object, and select again to highlight the blanket element
5. Move the blanket back into position with the MOVE GIZMO
6. Select the Fabric folder within MATERIALS & COLOURS
7. Choose your Fabric and apply it to the blanket
8. Repeat to colour the bench
9. To deselect the material from your cursor, click RESET just above the list of Materials
10. Add pillows to the bench from the FURNITURE LIBRARY
11. Rotate as needed with your Space Bar, or if needing more specific angles, the OBJECT CONTROL PANEL
12. Adjust the pillow dimensions using the SCALE GIZMO; clicking and dragging the central point of the Gizmo allows all axis to be scaled at one time
13. Continue painting using the provided materials and adding new objects using all of the skills that you have learned in this tutorial
