CREATING THE BASIC CUSTOM TEMPLATE
STEP BY STEP
1. Login to your software and select CREATE NEW VAN.
2. Select CUSTOM VEHICLE.
3. You will then be taken to the vanspace 3D Custom Template Generator.
IMPORTANT ⚠️SHOULD I SELECT A FRONT CAB?⚠️
4. Ignore the entire Front Cab section on the right side of the generator.
Front cab options within the custom area were originally provided for cosmetic reasons, but once selected, they create a restrictive wheelbase.
We take user feedback very seriously, so vanspace 3D now recommends NOT selecting a front cab, as more detailed custom features are now provided in the main design area.
ENTERING YOUR CARGO AREA DIMENSIONS
5. Select your choice of inches or cm using the toggle
6. Input the height, width and length manually
Height | Enter the height of your cargo area & hit enter |
Width | Enter the width of your cargo area & hit enter |
Length | Enter the length of your cargo area & hit enter |
7. Adjust the curvature and slopes of the template walls manually
Top Curve Width | Select the point on the roof where the curvature/slope will begin Use the slider or enter dimensions. |
Top Curve Height | Select the point on the side walls where the curvature/slope will end. Use the slider or enter dimensions. |
Curve Smoothness | Slide between flat slants or curves |
Curve Radius | Allows you to use the slider to invert the curvature or slant if needed |
TAKE THE TEMPLATE TO THE DESIGN AREA
Once you have created your basic template, you can save it and return to the custom area to load it again at any time. This allows you to use the same template multiple times for different layouts.
a) Select SAVE PRESET, name your base template, and then LOAD PRESET.
b) To load a previously created base template, select LOAD PRESET and select the relevant one.
MODIFYING YOUR TEMPLATE
Once you have taken your basic template to the main design area, you can now start to modify it using objects and shapes from the Furniture Library.
For total accuracy, it is recommended that you measure the wheel well dimensions in your real-life van, but if you do not have access yet, pretty accurate measurements can usually be found online.
You can adjust your layout within the software at any time once you have access to your vehicle.
WHEEL WELLS
Search for Wheel Wells within the Furniture Library, drop them into the template, adjust the dimensions, and finally, position them correctly. 👉️ Adjusting the Interior Wheel Wells
WHEELS
You may want to add wheels if the exterior appearance is important to you. For v3.08 users, you can create these to your own dimensions using the Semi Circle 3D shape found in the SHAPES folder of the Furniture Library
v3.09 will include wheels as pre-made objects within the Library
WINDOWS
Windows are also provided within the Furniture Library, or you can create your own using our provided 3D shapes and transparent materials.

CREATING AN ADVANCED TEMPLATE IN THE CUSTOM AREA
A custom template allows you to be as creative as needed, particularly if the front cab area is very important to your design.
Once you have entered the dimensions of the cargo area and taken the template to the main design area, many features will be available to help you create very detailed layouts.
EXAMPLE LAYOUT
Check out the example layout below, which was created entirely within a custom template.
- Wheels and sub-flooring were created using 3D shapes
- The cab that you see was also made using 3D shapes and other items from the Furniture Library
- The template walls are not visible because a transparent material was applied; the windows have been selected from the Furniture Library
- 3D shapes were again used to create a lot of the structural elements, such as floor levels, stairs, etc
- The exterior of the bus was again created using 3D shapes
CAN I CREATE TEMPLATES FOR NON-VEHICLES?
YES, YOU CAN! Enter your basic dimensions and take your template to the design area.
- Tiny homes
- Containers
- Food trucks
- Mobile businesses
Of course, the items available within our Furniture Library are geared towards van conversion, but you will still find many are suitable for your plans. If you need something else specific, build it out of 3D shapes.
